Complex knowledge clearly presented

Pohl’s Introduction to Physics by Lüders and Pohl is a two-volume standard work of experimental physics. The typesetting challenge lay in achieving a clear structure despite a lot of math content, illustrations, and diverse layout elements. The running text had a 1.5-column layout, so that comments, further information, and links to videos could be placed in the margin column. Exercises in small print facilitate orientation in the text, while customized chapter opening pages provide variety. To make the typesetting process as smooth as possible, all the necessary adaptations were agreed in close consultation with the publisher and authors, and visualized with a sample chapter.
